Worth A Trip:Old Sturbridge Village honors veterans, servicemen with discounts on Nov. 11

The public is invited to join Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) on Nov. 11, Veteran's Day, in remembering, celebrating, honoring, and thanking those who have served the nation in peacetime and wartime and those who are currently serving in the nation's armed forces.
In addition to the Veteran's Day festivities, OSV has a special thank-you for all veterans and active duty military personnel.
On Nov. 11, active duty service members and veterans will receive a 50 percent discount on OSV admission. In addition, family members accompanying active duty service members will receive 20 percent off general admission that day.
According to Ann Lindblad, director of marketing and communications for OSV, on Veterans Day the Village will be offering special programs and demonstrations honoring America's military history.
"We will be honoring America's military history with drilling and musket firing on the OSV village common and fife and drum music," Lindblad said. "Visitors can also meet members of the Sturbridge Militia and watch them drill."
In addition, she said veterans, active duty military members, and the general public be invited to enjoy a visit to the Firearms Building and tour the special "Firearms of Freedom" exhibit. Costumed staff in the Firearms exhibit will welcome questions from visitors and provide information on historic firearms throughout the day.
In addition to the Veteran's Day festivities,he Village will be preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, with many other demonstrations and exhibits throughout the day.
According to Lindblad, hours at OSV on Nov. 11, and throughout the month, will be 9:30 a.m. to 4 p. m.
