PRIME September 2012 AGAWAM — The Friends of the Agawam Public Library announce the organization's fourth annual Open Juried Art Show, slated for Nov. 1 to 29 at the library, located at 750 Cooper St. Information and a prospectus are now available to interested artists at www.agawamlibrary.org/about/friends.htm. Work will be accepted in five categories — acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels, other media (pencil drawing, charcoals, pen and inks, block prints, collage, encaustics) and the judging will include 26 awards with cash prizes totaling $1,250. There will be three prizes in each category, a juror's choice, and 10 honorable mentions. The Friends expect this year's show to attract many talented and upcoming artists in the area. A benefit for the Agawam Public Library, the annual show also helps recognize and encourage local artists, with the artists juried into the 2011 art show coming from 33 towns and cities. From Connecticut, it attracted artists from Broad Brook, East Granby, East Hartford, Enfield, Somers, Stafford Springs, Suffield, Tolland, and Windsor Locks.
