We’ve reached the third quarterly installment of the new Prime format, and you’ll notice a change in this edition. You won’t find our usual three pages of calendars- one with curated events for each month our quarterly issue covers - in the July edition.
That’s because the feature story in this issue is all about events - in particular a summer of things to do and see in Western Mass from now through September!
It’s not a complete listing– and we apologize in advance to any groups or organizations whose events are not listed here. We did our best to curate the vast amount of things that are happening throughout the local towns and the region where Prime is distributed – and there’s simply no way we could include every play, concert, event, fair, festival, and thing to do in the pages of our print publication.
So what we tried to do is give you a broad a sampling as possible – including selected events at some of the Berkshire’s most popular venues such as Shakespeare and Co., Jacob’s Pillow, Tanglewood and The Mount (check their websites for a full schedule of plays, dance and concerts at these venues). For more plays check the Chester Theater Company (facebook.com/ChesterTheatre/) The Berkshire Theater Group (berkshiretheatregroup.org/) and the Williamstown Theater Festival (wtfestival.org/seasons/2025/)
We hope you enjoy this one-stop collection of things to do and see in July, August and September, and it helps you make the most of your summer day trips, weekends and even staycations.
And– to help stretch your budget- events that have free admission ( including some local museums in August) – and there are over 40 of them in this listing – are marked with an asterisk(*)!
We’ve also got info to help the RVers who read Prime. Our expert Bruce Tranter- who wrote about the RV lifestyle for our June 2024 issue and answered questions about RV travel in the August 2024 issue returns to talk about living the lifestyle on a budget, including how to find free and low-cost campsites, what you need to know to camp off the grid, and how to plan for full-time RV living, if that’s your ultimate goal.
You’ll also find tips on taking great summer photos of all the things you see and do, the lowdown on adding a Live Estate to your financial plans and info for living your best life in Six Things!
Congratulations to our Yard Goat ticket winners!
They’re going to cheer on the Yard Goats at their choice from a list of home games this summer, courtesy of Prime!
Got vacation photos? Prime wants to see them!
Prime’s summer photo contest is returning for its second year! You’ll find all the details on how to submit your shots – and where the winners will see their work displayed – on page 10. And to help you take the best shots, you’ll find advice from Prime’s experts on taking cell phone photos in this month’s Tech column.
