How to use the Internet to find retirement information

How to use the Internet to find retirement information rickcastinelle.jpg
By Rick Castellini Nationally syndicated tech writer Special to PRIME As baby boomers enter their 60s, they will blaze trails in retirement as they have done in every other part of their lives. In retirement, this well-connected generation (more than 75 percent have Internet access) will and can access a plethora of information on the web. This month, my article will give retirees some great web resources for travel, healthcare, and for those who can't leave work behind, work sites geared at retirees. Travel Web sites First, let's talk travel. You worked for more years than you care to remember and want to see the world, the web can help you spread your wings. Hre are some examples: RV Travel - www.tinyurl.com/33uh5l Home/Condo Swapping - A, href="http://www.seniorshomeexchange.com">V or www.1sthomeexchange.com Air Travel - www.aaa.com; www.expedia.com; www.priceline.com Cruising - www.aaa.com www.smarttravel.com/senior-travel senior-travel/,www.mustcruise.com Bike or Adventure Trips - www.50plusexpiditions.com;www.eldertreks.com These sites certainly don't cover the gamut of what's on the web, but will get you pointed in the right direction, no pun intended. Health/Ftness Web sites As a retiree, you need to stay healthy to be able to enjoy retirement. Health and medical related Web sites were some of the first well-developed sites on the Internet. These are my picks for retirees to start with when searching for reputable health information: Healthcare insurance - www.ncshiip.com , Medical information - www.webmd.com; www.medicinenet.com; www.mayoclinic.com Preventive medicine - same sites as above Fitness for seniors - www.seniors-site.com/sports/; and again, the sites listed next to medical information have great information on this topic. Employment Web sites Lastly, if you just can't play another hand of solitaire or get on another tour bus, use one of these sites to do some job hunting for a part-time or home-based job where you can put your energy and skills to work: www.YourEncore.com - This site focuses on matching your work skills with companies who need them. www.Retirementjobs.com - The title of this site says it all. It might be the largest site of its kind on the web. Two more sites that didn't fit into any of the above categories, but definitely should be in your web tool belt are: www.AARP.org www.NewRetirement.com. These mega-sites offer tons of tips on all the topics I mentioned here and more. I'm hoping this article helps a few new retirees and maybe some experienced ones as well. I would love to hear from you about this article on my Web site, HelpMeRick.com. Head over and leave a comment about your thoughts and what sites helped you most in retirement.
