PRIME – April 2013 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Plans are well underway for the area's largest event designed specifically for those age 50 and older, the 22nd annual Life Enrichment Expo. Slated for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 2, the Expo, which will again take place at the Basketball Hall of Fame on East Columbus Avenue, is a fun and convenient way for boomers concerned about their parents – or themselves, caregivers and active elders to get a variety of answers and information about health care, housing, in-home and other services, the active, 50-plus lifestyle and more, all under one roof. Admission is free, there is ample parking in the Hall of Fame parking lot, and the facility is handicapped accessible. The Expo is co-sponsored again this year by the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) and PRIME Magazine. Presenting sponsors are Health New England and Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services. AARP Massachusetts is the event's gold sponsor for 2013. Carlin Trietsch, coordinator of arts and culture for the JCC, said attendees will be able to get answers to wide variety of lifestyle questions at the Expo. "They can get information on how to make their homes safe, get information on using their computers more effectively, on independent living [and more]," Trietsch said, adding that there will also be representatives available to talk about insurance issues including both short-term and long term care. Trietsch said the Expo is pleased to welcome The Gardens of Wilbraham, an elegantly appointed condo community designed for active adults age 55 and older, as a first-time exhibitor at the 2013 Expo. She also said Doctors Express would be returning as an exhibitor, as would Baystate Health Systems, featuring their Blood Donor Program. Greater Springfield Senior Services will also be on hand to aid individuals looking for information on their many programs to aid older adults, she added.
